Orange Amplification is a British amplifier company founded in 1968 by Cliff Cooper in London. Originally launched as a recording studio and music store, Orange began building its own amps due to equipment shortages. The brand quickly became known for its distinctive orange tolex covering, “Pics Only” control panels, and signature warm, crunchy tone ideal for rock and heavy music.
Throughout the 1970s, Orange amps were used by major artists like Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin. After a quieter period, the company was successfully revived in the 1990s by Cooper, introducing new models like the AD series, Rockerverb, and Tiny Terror, which earned wide acclaim. Today, Orange remains a global leader in guitar and bass amplification, celebrated for its bold design and unmistakable British sound.
