Description
The PreSonus M7 Cardioid Condenser Microphone is a versatile large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed to deliver clear, detailed audio performance for home studios, podcasters, musicians, and content creators. Known for offering impressive sound quality at an affordable price point, the M7 became a popular entry-level recording microphone for vocals, acoustic instruments, streaming, and multimedia production.
Featuring a cardioid pickup pattern, the M7 focuses on capturing the sound source directly in front of the microphone while helping reduce unwanted background noise and room ambience. This makes it an excellent choice for recording vocals, acoustic guitar, podcasts, voiceovers, and livestreams in home or project studio environments.
The large-diaphragm condenser design delivers a warm, natural frequency response with detailed highs and smooth mids that flatter the human voice. Condenser microphones like the M7 are favored for their ability to capture subtle musical nuances and vocal clarity that can often be missed by dynamic microphones.
Capable of handling sound pressure levels up to 134 dB SPL, the M7 is also suitable for louder sound sources such as guitar amplifiers, percussion, and drums without significant distortion. Its rugged metal construction makes it durable enough for everyday studio and recording use.
The PreSonus M7 requires 48V phantom power supplied by an audio interface, mixer, or microphone preamp. It commonly shipped with useful accessories including a stand mount, XLR cable, and carrying case, making it an easy all-in-one recording solution for beginners and intermediate users alike.
